Setting Your Display to use Small Fonts
Instructions
Using your mouse, right-click the background of your computer desktop (
i.e.,
not on an icon and not within any software window). In the context menu that appears, choose
Properties
or
Personalize
, depending on your operating system. Alternatively you can open the
Control Panel
and then launch the
Display
(or
Personalization
) utility application.
Click the
Settings
tab in the Display Properties window. In Windows XP click the
Appearance
tab. In Windows Vista or later, click the
Adjust Font Size (DPI)
link along the left side of the window.
You should see an item related to
Font Size
or to
DPI Setting
(this varies with different versions of Windows). In some versions of Windows you'll have to click an
Advanced
button before you see this item.

please read these instructions
.
Associated with the
Font Size
or
DPI Setting
is a pull-down list box that should include at least two choices, one shown either as
Large Fonts
or
Large Size
and the other shown either as
Small Fonts
or
Normal Size
. Some display adapters also support a
Custom Setting...
option. There may be information indicating that the "Large" setting corresponds to a screen resolution of 120 dpi (dots per inch) and that the "Small" or "Normal" setting corresponds to a resolution of 96 dpi.
If the display is currently set on the
Large
setting and RILSIM 1.05 is installed on your computer, you can solve the
display problem
by changing to the
Small
setting. (Better still, you can solve the problem in a cleaner way by
installing the latest version of RILSIM
).
After you select a new font size or DPI setting, a window may appear asking where Windows should get the font files for the new setting. These may already be available on your hard drive, or you may be required to insert the original CD-ROM from which Windows was installed. In either case you'll be asked to confirm that you want the new fonts to be loaded.
When you change the font setting, your computer usually has to reboot before the change will take effect. If so you will receive instructions about this.
